Doll Creators, Artist, and Makers
In the Doll World is excited to introduce you to an eclectic array of international doll creators, artists, and makers. Each creator has their own individual journey and story to tell. Some started creating dolls as children. Others started creating after a pivotal moment. Some bought an existing doll and made a persona for it. Just as their journeys are varied, so are their tools of creation. Some create with fabric, while others hand sculpt, and others work with large factories. In the end, they all express their love by creating dolls.
Doll Customizers and Redesigners
In the Doll World will share the stories of both leading and small doll customizers and redesigners. Some customizers use the face and body of an existing doll as a canvas to give life to a new character. Others create wigs, clothing and/or accessories to allow doll collectors to interact with their dolls in storytelling and play. When these customizers and redesigners are complete, they have created a doll that is a hybrid based upon the original doll; but, with a life of its own.
Doll Shows, Doll Conventions, and Hosts
In the Doll World will help you reach beyond the bounds of your doll room and experience the worlds of doll shows, doll conventions, their hosts, and participants. Some doll shows are hosted by individuals and small groups from local areas. While doll conventions tend to draw crowds of people from around the world. Each show and convention creates a space where doll lovers can congregate and interact. The shows and conventions have their own missions: some are focused on doll sells; others on educating about doll history; and more recently, we see more doll shows including courses on making clothing, accessories, and repainting dolls. Doll shows and conventions are also great spaces for connecting doll lovers with their favorite doll creators.
Doll Storytellers: Authors, Advocates, Activists, Filmmakers, and Photographers
In the Doll World will showcase people who use dolls to tell stories. These people include doll authors, advocates, activists, filmmakers, and photographers. Though they use different mediums, they all have the goal of sharing stories via dolls. Some of these creatives focus on education, history, or culture. Others focus on using dolls to help expand the world of their viewers. Some others use dolls to share beauty. Whatever motivates them, they all use their medium to influence doll lovers.
Doll Collectors
In the Doll World will introduce you to a myriad of doll collectors. Some collectors collect just one type of doll; and, some collect dolls from their childhood. Others collect and use dolls for storytelling or to help people express traumas that are difficult to discuss. Some collectors have just one special doll, while others have rooms full of dolls. You will meet them all here.
